Compression Connectors

Miniature and mechanically resilient compression connectors from Molex provide excellent electrical contact for reliable operations in ultra-slim mobile devices.

Smartphone and tablet makers need compression connectors that not only provide superior electrical continuity, but ensure mechanical resilience over time, especially when mobile devices are subject to frequent vibration or shock conditions. These connectors mate to electronic modules within the mobile device. Other key features demanded by customers include high terminal retention force and maximum space savings,, both vertically (for ultra-slim device applications) as well as on expensive PCB real-estate. Molex’s series 78732 and 78864 connectors meet customer specifications for interconnect size reduction, mechanical resilience, and electrical reliability.

Features
  • Low-level contact resistance (LLCR) of 30 milliohms
    • Assures operational performance of the connector at extremely low-current levels
  • Low working height of 1.20 mm
    • Significant vertical space savings for ultra-slim applications
  • Dimpled mating contacts
    • Maintains high contact pressure for enhanced electrical reliability
  • Small connector footprints
    • Provide maximum PCB real-estate savings
  • High terminal retention force
    • Protects terminal solder joints against compressive stresses during mating
  • Titanium copper (Ti Cu) contacts
    • High mechanical strength of contacts sustains contact pressure when mated
  • High shock resistance of up to 30 G and 50 G
    • Ensures uninterrupted electrical connectivity in shock conditions
