***AS INSTRUMENT: The Texas InstrumentsMSP430 family of ultralow-power microcontrollers consists of several devices featuring different sets of peripherals targeted for various applications. The architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portablemeasurement applications. The devices feature a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency.The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power modes to active mode in less than 6µs.

***AS INSRUMENT: The MSP430F471xx series are microcontroller configurations targeted to single-phase and poly-phase electricity meters with three, six, or seven 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converters. Each channel has a differential input pair and programmable input gain. Also integrated are two 16-bit timers, four universal serial communication interfaces (USCI), DMA, 68 I/O pins, and a liquid crystal driver (LCD) with integrated contrast control.

MSP430F4xx Series: OMO Electronic MSP430F4xx Series are LCD Flash or ROM based 16 bit microcontroller devices that offer integrated LCD controllers and 16-bit sigma-delta A/D, Op Amps, multipliers, DMA, and other peripherals ideal for low power metering and medical applications. Other applications include sensor systems that capture analog signals, convert them to digital values, and process and transmit the data to a host system, or process this data and display it on a LCD panel. The MSP430F4xx Series is an excellent solution for industrial control applications such as ripple counters, digital motor control, EE-meters, and hand-held meters due to the 16-bit timers with capture/compare registers.
