The Texas Instruments MSP430 family of ultralow-power microcontrollers consists of several devices featuring different sets of peripherals targeted for various applications. The architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement applications. The devices feature a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power modes to active mode in less than 6 µs.

The MSP430x461x(1) series are microcontroller configurations with two 16-bit timers, a high-performance 12-bit A/D converter (MSP430x461x only), one universal serial communication interface (USCI), one universal synchronous/asynchronous communication interface (USART), DMA, 80 I/O pins, and a liquid crystal display (LCD) driver with regulated charge pump.

MSP430F4xx Series
OMO Electronic MSP430F4xx Series are LCD Flash or ROM based 16 bit microcontroller devices that offer integrated LCD controllers and 16-bit sigma-delta A/D, Op Amps, multipliers, DMA, and other peripherals ideal for low power metering and medical applications. Other applications include sensor systems that capture analog signals, convert them to digital values, and process and transmit the data to a host system, or process this data and display it on a LCD panel. The MSP430F4xx Series is an excellent solution for industrial control applications such as ripple counters, digital motor control, EE-meters, and hand-held meters due to the 16-bit timers with capture/compare registers.
