The VHCT244A is an advanced high speed CMOS octal bus transceiver fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. It achieves high speed operation similar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining the CMOS low power dissipation. The VHCT244A is a non-inverting 3-STATE buffer having two active-LOW output enables. This device is designed to be used as 3-STATE memory address drivers, clock drivers, and bus oriented transmitter/receivers. Protection circuits ensure that 0V to 7V can be applied to the input and output (Note 1) pins without regard to the supply voltage. These circuits prevent device destruction due to mismatched supply and input/output voltages. This device can be used to interface 5V to 3V systems and two supply systems such as battery back up.

The MC74VHCT14A is an advanced high speed CMOS Schmitt inverter fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. It achieves high speed operation similar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining CMOS low power dissipation. Pin configuration and function are the same as the MC74VHCT04A but the inputs have hysteresis and with its Schmitt trigger function the VHCT14A can be used as a line receiver which will receive slow input signals. The VHCT inputs are compatible with TTL levels. This device can be used as a level converter for interfacing 3.3V to 5.0V because it has full 5V CMOS level output swings. The VHCT14A input structures provide protection when voltages between 0V and 5.5V are applied regardless of the supply voltage. The output structures also provide protection when VCC = 0V. These input and output structures help prevent device destruction caused by supply voltage input/output voltage mismatch battery backup hot insertion etc. The internal circuit is composed of three stages including a buffer output which provides high noise immunity and stable output. The inputs tolerate voltages up to 7V allowing the interface of 5V systems to 3V systems.

These octal buffers and line drivers are designed specifically to improve the performance and density of 3-state memory address drivers, clock drivers, and bus-oriented receivers and transmitters by eliminating the need for 3-state overlap protection. The designer has a choice of selected combinations of inverting and noninverting outputs, symmetrical active-low output-enable () inputs, and complementary OE and inputs. These devices feature high fan-out and improved fan-in.
