Digital Power System Management: Analog Devices Digital Power System Management (PSM) devices help designers simplify and accelerate power system characterization, optimization, and data mining during prototyping, deployment, and field operation. Using the PSM devices enable designers to add digital PMBus/SMBus/I2C-interface based control, telemetry, and black-box fault recording to analog DC-DC power converters.

ADP1052 Digital Controller with PMBus Interface: Analog Devices ADP1052 is designed as an advanced digital controller with a PMBus™ interface for high density, high efficiency, dc-to-dc power conversion. The ADP1052 digital controller combines voltage mode control with high speed and input line feed forward for enhanced transient and improved noise performance. ADP1052 features six programmable pulse-width modulation (PWM) outputs capable of controlling most high efficiency power supply topologies with added control of synchronous rectification (SR). ADP1052's low power consumption and adaptive dead time compensation improves efficiency over the load range and programmable light load mode operation to reduce system standby power losses. In addition, the device includes features to enable a robust system of parallel and redundant operation for designers that require high availability or parallel connection. ADP1052 provides synchronization, reverse current protection, prebias startup, accurate current sharing between power supplies, and conditional overvoltage techniques to identify and safely shut down an erroneous power supply in parallel operation mode. Available in a small size (4mm × 4mm) LFCSP package, the ADP1052 digital controller is ideal for ultra-compact, isolated dc-to-dc power modules or embedded power designs.Learn More
